I am just trying to point out that people are rational, and will adjust their behaviour to conditions at hand. You don't always need the government to get involved. Fewer miles driven means less oil was used, which is what you have been talking about all along. A lot of activities people do are optional, marginal. At some price level, some choices no longer make sense. Yeah, like vacations, movies, restaurants, amusement parks... the thing is all that stuff provides jobs to millions of people and millions in profits to many, many corporations. So what you are calling for is shutting down the world's most Mobil society and culture. And flipping us into a recession to boot. Just so some people can have their pig SUVs. Can we still watch reruns on TV since we can't go anywhere?
