Obama waffled and got slippery on both those issues rather than a flat flip-flop. His literal quote on financing was that if he became the nominee, he would sit down with McCain to discuss it. I don't think he ever pledged to go with public financing.

On gun control, he is taking both sides of the issue, supporting second amendment rights but also allowing local or state restrictions. That probably reflects actual court practice over the years but it doesn't really stand up as supporting either side firmly.

I would give him one Little Waffle and one Big Waffle for those two.
