Not really. Tech still has a large share of cowboys. The oil industry, despite its image, doesn't. Now the smaller exploration companies used to be dominated by them. But, they are all gone now.

It is a low margin business. A single boneheaded decision can turn billions in profits into 10s of billions in losses. And that means no perks, no multi-million dollar bonuses, no job.
