Comrade Jozef, you and your wife have a SUV and a four bedroom house. Time to "sacrifice" and get rid of that SUV and have two more families move in with you. For the good of all (the state) comrade.

Michelle Obama from "The View":“We’re going to have to make sacrifices, we’re going to have to change our conversation, we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history and we’re going to have to move to a different place.”

I'll interpret:

We’re going to have to make sacrifices Grab your wallet.

we’re going to have to change our conversation Censorship

we’re going to have to change our traditions There goes the Constitution...

[change] our history We must overlook the past failures of communism and successes of capitalism.

we’re going to have to move to a different placeThe rest of our freedoms will be eliminated.

Jozef, > You are asking people to give up their SUVs, but seem a little defensive when asked to give up your house (to do your share).

Well said.

After we get rid of the SUVs, we should eliminate the tax break for single family homes and force people to live in the city or near mass transit.

Your fellow New Yorkers might not mind, at least until the cost of living in one of the five buroughs skyrockets. But hey, most of them are liberals anyway, so I guess they are asking for it.

LOL. So you want the the whole country to get up and move somewhere else, desert the suburbs, and huddle together in the cities. Instead of have a subset of the population get more efficient cars.

Very practical.

It seems to work fine in Europe and the rest of the world - having liveable cities where majority of population either already lives, or is moving to.

You seem to be upset that US is using more oil than the rest of the world. It is not the SUVs. It is mainly the suburbs.

You are asking people to give up their SUVs, but seem a little defensive when asked to give up your house (to do your share).

Are you really missing the point he is making, or is it because you don't have a reasonable comeback so you are trying to put JF on the defensive by making an unreasonable analogy?

I'm trying to find a workable solution to the problem, and my house isn't part of the problem. Inefficient use of gasoline is the problem. A mass migration of the population is a cute idea but not doable.

<And frankly I would love to downsize but can't get my wife to agree>.
