You can ignore all of those details and cast yourself on the waters of "we can work it out, we always have". Which ignores the fact that civilizations have collapsed because they couldn't work out the details. Oh, I don't think things are quite that dire. But they could be. Once we start losing our technology, then we are circling the drain. The fact of the matter is that we need our present level of technology to exploit the available resources. If we slip, even the slightest amount, we start sliding down The Great Razor Blade of Life. There is a vat of alcohol at the end. Me, I am a conservative at heart. I don't like trying for the hard six. I like to try to avoid predictable problems.
