You are assuming that the longs are not on margin but the shorts would be unable to anticipate a potential margin call should things not go their way. Whether you accept my hypothesis about banks or not , it looks like you can buy them cheaper today than yesterday, and I believe you will be able to buy them cheaper on Monday. I was short xlf but covered too early. GM is getting weaker daily too.
