The Baathists melted into the population. AQ melts into the population. The Taliban melts away as well. This happens all the time. How many times does this have to happen before some people get it?

It is their land and they will simply wait things out for decades or generations. Unfortunately, while they have all that easy-to-access oil, outsiders will never leave them at peace.
