yes, that worries me too. Keep in mind that we Republicans all salivated at the idea of a majority in both houses and a Republican in the White House. Bush Jr had that scenario for 6 years. We could have implemented all of our greatest, most cherished projects like social security privatization. But instead, Bush did nothing but spend all of our money and our party's political capital on Iraq. What a damned waste.

I think the thing we all have to remember is that these people work for us and we can't make believe the problem is over if and when Obama gets elected. We have an oversight responsibility as citizens to watch 24/7 how gov't is performing and to step in when we see any shenanigans. I trust the Dems only slightly more than I trust the GOPers. A democracy absolutely requires the participation of its citizens. When those citizens do not participate, the last 8 years are the result.

The scary thing for me is that operating the gov't is boring......I am afraid people will get turned off and tuned out once Obama takes power. It can't be that way.

Yes--when either party controls the WH and both the Senate and the House--things go to hell in a handbasket fast.

AND even if Obama would like to resist--he won't be able to if the legislative branch has the vote (he'll also owe all of these people who helped get the WH).

So the best possbile scenario is for the Republicans to retain at least 41 votes in the Senate--then they can do the heavy lifting for Obama.
