That said it's hard to call the US auto industry "visionary" but I do think they get a little too much criticism.

I am critical because they have had numerous wakeup calls where they indicate they've learned their lesson and then go back to the same 'same ole' when the crisis is over. Like the boy who cried wolf, for me its enough. And while I agree their health insurance costs may be higher because of an older workforce, I don't think that is by any means the deciding factor when it comes to their troubles.

And you're talking to someone who supported GM for nearly ten years by buying their cars. There was no one more stunned at the qualitative difference when I bought a BMW. And BMWers are not even the best cars on the road. I can not make any excuses for GM.....they have forgotten how to make good cars.
