RMF, > They have like 100,000 artillery pieces sitting at the border and we have like 30,000 troops very close to the border. They'd kill 10,000 of our guys in the first week and take another 15,000 prisoner.

a) The 30K Americans in South Korea serve as nothing more than a tripwire. "Attack South Korea, and you'll essentially be attacking America."

b) There are like 500K South Korean soldiers stationed at the border. Military service is mandatory for all South Korean males of age, so there's no shortage of troops there.

c) If North Korea was stupid enough to initiate an attack, they'd have to go over a heavily mined border. Not only that, but there's no way they could prevent telegraphing such an attack days before it happens. Let's not forget that South Korea has some very sophisticated military hardware, thanks in no small part to America. F-16s and K-1 tanks are much better than the pieces of crap that North Korea has left over from the Cold War.

Trust me, North Korea doesn't stand a chance. But that only means America ought to act very responsibly when dealing with the North. Even if a North Korean attack can be repelled, no one wants the bloodshed.

>>Nukes don't really matter that much when it comes to N. Korea.

Can't believe you said that.
