Iraq PM Wants To Double Oil Output In Medium Term -Report

BERLIN (AFP)--Iraq wants massive development of its oil production in the medium term, seeking to more than double the average barrel-a-day oil output, an oil adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said in an interview with Der Spiegel.

"We have the demand, we have the reserves, and we also now have the money to increase oil production in the medium term by an average of four million barrels per day," Thamer al-Ghadban said in the weekly to appear Monday.

For the first time since the fall of Baghdad after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, Iraqi oil production has stabilized at 2.5 million barrels a day.

Iraq has the third largest oil reserves in the world, but lacks technology and capital.

Ghadban denied that U.S. businesses received privileges in the oil market and announced a call for public offers starting this summer, "which will allow for the direct participation of foreign companies in the development of the oil fields," he told the magazine. He added that he expected a second round of public bids would follow soon after.

ElM, you are so silly. Somebody kindly PMed me to tell me you had unbanned me if I groveled to you, and they gave me the link. It does indeed seem that I am unbanned.

I have never found Calvin Ball an enjoyable game, so you'll have to play with yourself. When the rule is "Mq is not allowed to mention Israel but anti-Israel ranters get free reign" and "China is great and so is Brazil and Mq isn't allowed to point out anything different", then I can't be bothered.

If you wade through BBR, you'll find an explanation of why you are banned from posting to me.

If you leave me unbanned, I might even follow a link one day and take the trouble to post. But it's a bit tedious having you play bossy-man with a sudden-death Brazilian back-stab. So, no, I don't agree to your Calvin Ball rules. You remain banned but I might unban you one day because I have never found "ignore" a useful feature [I made a couple of exceptions just for fun] as it's very easy to skip past posts.

This is very silly, like children in a sand-pit, but it's your game.
