Russian Metal Majors To Announce $2B Zambia Investment -Paper

MOSCOW, Jun 19, 2008 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- NLKNY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Russian mining giant OAO Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.RS) and Basic Element, the holding company of tycoon Oleg Deripaska, are likely to be among three Russian metals majors to announce an investment of more than $2 billion in Zambia next month, the Moscow Times reported Thursday.

The daily said that representatives from three Russian companies are scheduled to visit Zambia in July to negotiate the mining investment, and that Norilsk and Basic Element are likely to be a part of the group as both are actively looking to expand.
