That depends on current gas/electricty prices. In this example, it would cost $2.70 for the electric auto vs. $12.00 for the gasoline auto... en.wikipedia.org

The source of electricity will continue to be a HUGE political issue. Other sources should be included in the discussion, as well as potential savings from more efficient power lines, appliances, light bulbs, etc.

Electric cars should last longer because they have fewer moving parts, but battery replacement could be an issue... en.wikipedia.org
