hello ep, the hotel grand dragon i am staying at is ok, better than most roadside chain-linked motels in us of a, at around usd 40/night, with two rooms, mini-bar/fridge, free broadband, cable tv, aircon, nice bathroom with separate shower stall and bath tub, plus most amenities

the 2-rooms suite is about 900 sft, with clean and tidy carpet and decent modern furniture and lighting, and the fruit basket on the coffee table has a bunch of seasonal in good shape

it just isn't what i am used to :0) i.e. it is not a beachside bungaloo where one can hear the surf, smell the flowers, sense the breeze, and taste the mango shake; and the service, while warm, is not exactly swiss hotel perfect (no welcome drink, and no good night chocalate) - i.e. the software has bugs and the hardware sports imperfections - mandarin oriental / shangri-la it ain't but can easily give holiday inn a run for its money

otoh, my take is that parts of bijie has high potential for the summer vacation second-home crowd, senior retirees, and summer camp youngsters, given its high altitude, deep gorges, huge grass plateaus, crisp water, and really quite delicious food as well as very friendly people

the diet is healthy, and there are many delicious vegetables, wild and cultured, that i do not know the names of in any language

the area also happens to be the largest potato growing region in china, and also serves up a scrumptious wild but cultured mountain grain (spread the seeds and left alone until harvest time) prepared like n.african cous cous, but with bits of wild seasoning and good ham

singular, and

the place is definitely hi-po

i am here with partners, hoping to make a difference by arranging a master plan feasibility study sponsored by a combine of multinationals who might be able to accelerate rural transformation, say for example in rural telephony rollout, commodity logistic handling, etc etc, and engage with opportunities that may arise thereof, by and by

already got commitment from a telecom equipment company for sponsorship of for master planning exercise as well as for the company to engage with a feasibility process which ought to lead to pilot site for rural telephony system (requiring national authority approval), which, if successful, can be rolled out across china

as i had mentioned, comrade hu jin tao had served in bijie, had enabled the establishment of the experimental development zone, pays attention to the goings-on here, and so we are just aligning ourselves with the force, attempting to do well by doing good, aiming for the classical win-win-win-once-more-and-win-again outcome

the geological report of the place and guizhou in general is that the place is essentially one almost solid block of high caloric coal going down several thousand meters, and infused with other ever more valuable goodies

the real estate sells for 1/20th of hkg prices and is at substantially less, say 1/10 of the plot ratio

it just seems like an all together splendid locale

in a word, bullish
