Although does not flow with the story described above, actual history is --

Stalin suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage, but took 3 days to die, and was in and out of consciousness.

Doctors were not called for 13 hours as most of the senior Kremlin medical staff had been imprisoned in the "Doctors Plot" initiated by Stalin.
