Multiculturalism was institutionalized during the Clinton years, at least where I worked. Even before that. I think it was a very bad idea. This country works as a melting pot that assimilates cultures, not create separate enclaves of them. Having it shoved down our throats like that worked against them, anyway. It created resistance and bitterness amongst people like myself who were quite capable of relating to cultures different from ourselves without having it required of us.
