Back to what I brought up to you. Do you think its horrible that Norway, the UK and Canada have vibrant active offshore oil and gas industries?

As does the US........have you ever looked at an oil map of the Gulf? Of course you have.......you're in the biz.

-----------------
Now as to Friedman, if he thinks wind and solar are going to allow us to get off oil in the near future, he's a blooming idiot.

Where did he say that? Oh right......making shit up again

He like you, assume there is some dramatic breakthrough just waiting for us to find that will allow solar or wind powered cars and planes to be economical. All we have to do is spend enough government money on research and for the government to wisely target the right technologies with subsidies and bam! it will happen and we'll completely replace the current technological base of our economy in a few years.

I have never said that either. What I do think is that viable industries can be developed from alternative energy sources. Why don't you?
