Lots of lumber folks came from that part of the world. The German branch of my family emigrated from the Bohmerwald, i.e. the Bohemian Forest. It's a low mountain range on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. A land of wood cutters.

My great grandfather and his working-class parents left there for the USA in the 1850s. He later started a small local sawmill in Minnesota, which produced the wood for the house that Charles Lindbergh grew up in at Little Falls.
