I haven't read all his books, but I've read "Faith of My Fathers". It is a great book, but not written by McCain, but rather by a professional writer named Salter. I'm a history and military enthusiast and really liked it, as such. It demonstrated that McCain is a true American hero, who started off in his father's shadow, but managed to become a man and hero in his own right. But it did not demonstrate a man who could write his own books or has the mental acuity of someone like Obama.

So if we stick to this topic of brains, I'd still have to say that Obama is truly gifted. He wrote his own books. His editor was fond of saying that Obama's first drafts read like a final draft and that Obama did all his own writing with very little editorial help. There can be no question of Obama's intelligence, by any academic standard. Those who impugn his abilities by saying it was all affirmative action simply are speaking from ignorance and perhaps from racism. That is my whole point.

Oh and btw, in 2000, I was a serious McCain fan. I really really wanted him to beat Bush Jr, so that I could vote for him. I ended up voting for Bush instead. But something has happened to McCain since then. The McCain of 2008 is very different from the McCain I remember in 2000. I think somehow he has been compromised.
