I seriously disagree with Obama's pander here..I'm disappointed he didn't get on board with McCain on this one..missed opportunity..

re corn ethenol: I know tejek. The problem is there is no way to get elected without making existential decisions to prostitute yourself on certain issues. Some lobbies are just too strong. It is either that or lose the election!? Until we have a better educated electorate who can understand the complicated ideas and think long range we will stumble along at best. I do not believe, in this case, it is the lobbyst's as much as it is the voters in the area e.g. farmers. Sugar cane is 20 times more productive and works well.
