I'm not a doc or a father but I am a recovering Catholic... I've heard/read many do it so they don't have to answer "why don't I look like Daddy?" I think those who are not afraid to say "you will thank me when you are old enough to know why I didn't make the mistake my parents made." will have a much better relationship with their son....

Personally I think there are non religious reasons to do it.. Health, cultural or hell, even aesthetic.. But you can do your research and decide.. There are a lot of places and here is one.. circumcision.org

do not know any religious reasons for catholics to circumsize.. anybody may do it because it easy to clean the area and avoid infections.
