Obama had no teleprompters during his (how many?) debates with the other (D) candidates. He did great. So, as usual, your bullshit, is..bullshit.

Obama, as the frontrunner, just wants to get McSame where he's LEAST comfortable, in a traditional debate.

Obama can read a speech in fine form. But when he starts improvising, he gets himself into a lot of trouble. McCain doesn't suffer from this problem, which is the reason McCain is trying so hard to get Obama out from behind the 'prompters.

Obama is good on his feet, winging it. McCain does OK in a TH setting, when there is no blow back on his dumb, canned statements like "The Dems want to surrender". With Obama 'clarifying' that BS McCain will just be left a stuttering fool.
