The FED's next move will still probably be another rate cut. The economy's in the toilet, increasing the interest a quarter point won't do much to stabilize the dollar. What's needed is a move that gets money into the mortgage makers hands.

While the banking industry brought this on themselves, if the FED and the Govt. don't bail them out the economy will be in a world of hurt for quite some time.

If it were up to me, I'd have a Federal plan to occupy all the bankrupt properties where people would rent them with an option to buy, in time. As long as so many properties go unoccupied the building industry will be in the doldrums, and this dominos into all sorts of other industries.

Low interest and readily available funds are what's needed to get the economy back on its feet, and of course lower oil prices, but I believe when what's happening there starts to be investigated, mysteriously the price will come down.
