It's more constructive to take issue with the argument, instead of an ad hominem attack on the source. For example, you could point out where the author went wrong in their numbers and arguments?

This is the first ever time I read an article from American Prospect and I care less if it is a liberal or a conservative piece. The article could serve as a starting point for discussion/debate and if you wish, you could dispute the points made by the author.

I liked Commander Crickets response in that regard where the points can be argued from both his side as well as mine.
