Isn't that the same sort of logic the US military used when it sent in our servicemen in "armored" vehicles in Iraq? I'm guessing there's 50,000 or so wounded vets that believe that policy was dead wrong.

Iran would use Russian Sunburn anti-ship missiles.

They now have a number of such missiles. Sufficient to sink any number of tankers. Or carriers.

Blocking the straits with dead tankers might seem like a bad idea, however. Once the war has been 'won", presumably you would want to restart oil exports.
