That's all I said. Could you be more specific? I've been self-employed all my life and can't think of a time when the government has "helped" me in any way, shape or form. Yes, I benefit from national defense, roads, schools, etc., which I pay dearly for. I got an education, have given my kids their educations, without government money. The Medicare system, which I deal with daily, is the biggest single source of frustration in my business life. In the last month I have spent at least 3/4 of my work days trying to deal with a totally inept system that is so jammed up from a totally predictable system change that fully 60% of self-employed physicians are unable to get paid. I have, today, submitted $200,000 in Medicare claims for a customer who has been patiently waiting SIX MONTHS for his Medicare provider enrollment paperwork to be processed (almost all other insurances accept claims without ANY prior enrollment paperwork). Medicare requires not only 60 pages of enrollment forms, but requires they not be faxed but MAILED so they can have a signature in BLUE INK not black. Apparently, you are someone's employee who has never had to deal with government. The best thing you could do to understand how f'ed up it is to go into business for yourself. I don't care what kind -- sell Mary Kay if you want to. But I can guarantee you it will provide you with an education you can't get any other way. After a few months of dealing with the utter nonsense of government -- forms, procedures, mounds of copies of crap that nobody needs, the IRS and their multi-billion-documents annually, bureaucrats, 1960s era computer systems, and incompetent idiots, you will understand more about government and why people want it out of their lives than you've been able to figure out in your entire life thus far. I'd really like to hear how government has "helped" me or anyone else who is trying to make a good living for themselves. Those of us who have created our own opportunities take extreme offense when some idiot claims that government has "helped" us -- it has done nothing but get in the way of everything we try to do.
