Mish: Toyota dealers are now buying *back* Prius cars - above blue book.

We've got a 2-year old Prius and got the call yesterday from the dealership. Their inventory is so low, and demand is do high, that apparently this is the new trend.

We have no intention of selling, for any price. What would we do then for a replacement - buy an SUV?

Anyway, the the upshot is that car demand is radically shifting. US car firms - per your previous posts - are truly toast.

Joe Consumer is about 'to just say no'

And do not leave out price spikes in corn, soy, wheat as well.........

If consumers are paying massive grocery bills, even more massive energy bills (sorry for those with swimming pools), and watching net wealth decline by 25% due to destroyed house price........

(remember FED said today, we are not worried about this, well guess what IDIOTS, it is about to spill over all over your face and spill over to every sector in AMERICA)

FED, America's GDP is consumer spending! Did you somehow forget this fact?

Just a matter of time till it is, honey, what can we do without and begin to cut and burn. This has already begun.

No we do not need to eat out, no we can do without the cell phone, no we do not need to take a vacation this summer - lets just go to the beach, no we do not need to buy more clothes or furniture, no we do not need to buy that yacht or motorhome, no we do not need to buy anymore plants at the garden center, no we do not need to go to the movies, no we do not need to buy any more lattes or donuts, no we do not need to redo the kitchin, no we do not need the gardener any more, no we do not need the cleaning lady anymore, no we do not need any more cds, video rentals, books from Amazon, no we do not need anything as we'll just make do for now...........

You get the trend, now add up how many enterprises (public) this is going to effect!

This list could go on and on and on.

when the weaker player announces a price increase, it is signaling the stronger players they can do it, too. In airlines, sometimes it sticks, sometimes not.

With the steel price increase in Japan, the final GM price increases are to be determined. But the companies don't need to "talk" to play the game.

In some cases, without talking, such actions have been ruled illegal. GM is on safer ground, and they can point to your blog if they have to.
