There is no question that high income earners are taxed most in the only metric that matters -- the number of dollars one pays.

Unless you have a some magical formula to close the federal budget, there is no other practical way to measure or administer the tax code but in terms of progressivity relative to income. I am all for lowering taxes for everyone, as long as we find a reasonable, civilized (as in not deprived) and affordable way to live within a balanced budget.
