I have no doubt the chicken would make it to the other side of the road.

However, AS would be sooo mad at the car drivers and planes flying overhead he would stop in the middle of the road to shake his fist and jump up and down in protest and would be run over by a VW Beetle.

Wrong. Oil is needed for plastics and lubricants. But it's much too scarce a resource possessed by way too noxious regimes in the world to depend on to run our autos. We need to get OFF gasoline permanently and do it ASAP. And we CAN do it. The technology is there, or almost there.
