In general, yes. But the Journal actually had an interesting article yesterday talking about the increase in sales volume for the Lexus GX470 and Toyota Tundra. Not sure why people are buying those.

With that said, if you look at the markdowns on these trucks, it actually amounts to a couple of years of differential gas payments (assuming normal usage and $3/gal gas).

So indeed cost of ownership is higher, but it is not as high as one may have initially thought.
