I follow peak oil, not Chinese policies.

"Why was GM downgraded yesterday?"

I'll answer that with another question.
Whatever happened to the solar powered model car they showed us at at a school assembly in '56 or '57?

When they said "we can't do it cuz it is bad for business", they actually were saying "We are afraid to compete". So they didn't. So they lost to those who didn't say "It is bad for business".

All three US automakers, as well as major auto companies have factories in China. In addition China has her own auto manufacturers like Chery (which is in litigation with GM for trade mark infringement "Chevy"), and several others. India has Tata, etc.

Where did they get all the money from? Has the Communist Govt abandoned its' policy of "no private ownership"?

If they are buying these cars then which automaker's stock is going up? Why was GM downgraded yesterday?

GM is the best seller in China. However, its sales in the rest of the world have dropped off a cliff because its car lineup is so out of sync with high gas prices.

GM may have to file bankruptcy.
