<<Someone on this thread said once that racism won't die until all the older generations in this country die off. I now believe that is true.>>

It was me, Mind. My popularity meter went down 90% after that statement, but it is the truth.

BTW, never liked Nader. To me, he is just an ego-driven maniac with a populist message. Mofo knows he has no chance, but he does not give a fuck whether the poor and the oppressed he professes to protect are eventually harmed because he was a factor (negative) in an election. Old fart needs to die too.

I never would tolerate any racism, even in my own family. My mother was one of 12 children. Most of my relatives live in Oaklahoma and Missouri.

She felt the same and she and I stood back to back and cut off all family members who were racist. And there were many.

The crime of being a racist or a bigot is too huge and hurts people to much to allow it. Or say nothing because it is impolite.

Before I read "The Road" by Cormack McCarthy, to Kill a Mockingbird was my favorite book of all time.

What's amazing to me is how many racists there are left in this country. I mean, I grew up without all this shite around me, but watching people like Nader say things like "he's just trying to talk white" is pretty disgusting to me.

The sad thing is that Nader doesn't think what he said was racist.

Someone on this thread said once that racism won't die until all the older generations in this country die off.

I am not so sure its dead even among the young. I did my student teaching this past semester at one of the most diverse high schools in the country. No one race or religion predominates. The last week before the end of school I was standing in the hallway waiting for my mentor teacher to unlike the door. It was early in the morning and some black kids were talking not far from me. As they talked a Latino walked by them. A black girl said I can't stand them......one of the black guys responded by saying, but that one isn't so bad. When the same Latino walked by again, the black guy said hello to him......the Latino who was in one of my classrooms and is a pretty friendly guy said: "Was 'sup holmes?" In gangster slang that can mean anything but the tone of the delivery was neutral to unfriendly. Now its very possible that race was not the issue at all but some how I think that's wrong.

On the positive side, given the level of diversity, these kids get along very well. The US would be a lot better off if this high school were its model.
