The dependence needs to be addressed in other ways. The market is starting to take care of some of the more egregious offenders with 4 (soon to be 5) dollar oil. There is a VERY long latency between the start of a drilling program and when production comes on board, 6-8 years or so (maybe longer when rigs and drilling crews are in short supply, like they are now). Start the drilling, remove senseless impediments to developing alt energy sources (like the nonsensical BLM edicts now delaying solar thermal development in the southwest), put up the nukes. Tims is not an ally here....as one wag put it, "we're on the clock and we're still asleep".
