When Anonymity Fails, Be Nasty, Brutish and Short

I saw a few YouTube clips of Addington's testimony. Nasty is the right word. But one could find some worse ones. Easily.

Some people think you can do anything in the name of national defense in an "emergency"- no matter how confabulated the "emergency" is. Obviously they are annoyed at being caught and questioned when they feel they were doing the "right" thing. These shadowy Napoleons are the kind of people who kill democracy- and the people who worship them are just as bad. If you want to kill democracy, these are your guys, if you don't, you had better hope these sorts of nasty individuals get dragged in to the light, along with their activities.

Wonderful. I'm so pleased to see that somebody, or somebodies, finally refuse to put up with all of the nonsense and the speeches that supposedly pass for "questions" in these Congressional hearings.

Most of these luminaries only want to hear themselves bloviate, and more often than not the only intelligent response would be, "Senator, is there a question buried somewhere in there that you would like answered?"

That is a remarkable performance. These people wrap themselves in the cloak of the "Founders" or "original intent" and don't have a clue what people like Madison or Hamilton actually thought or meant when they wrote what they wrote.

We are going to need a new word or concept to describe Addington's performance. I'm not sure "comtempt of Congress" does it justice.

Think of Addington as the id of the Bush White House. Though his hidden hand is often merely suspected -- in signing statements, torture policy and other brazen assertions of executive power -- Addington's unbridled hostility was live and unfiltered yesterday

If it wasn't so crass it would be funny
