Brazil sugar refiner Cosan Ltd. (CZZ) "frequently overlooked."

Cosan Ltd. (NYSE: CZZ, Stock Forum) is a rather influential stock that is frequently overlooked or forgotten about. The company manufactures and sells sugar and ethanol primarily in Brazil.

It grows and processes sugarcane to produce standard sugars, including raw sugar, crystal sugar, and organic sugar, as well as refined sugars, including granulated refined white sugar, amorphous refined sugar, refined sucrose liquid sugar, and refined inverted liquid sugar. The company also produces and sells hydrous, anhydrous, and industrial ethanol.

Even back in April 2008, the company purchased some of Exxon Mobil's (NYSE: XOM, Stock Forum) distribution operations (called Esso Brasileira de Petroleo) in Brazil for more than $800 million. The focus there is on marketing and distribution of fuels and production and marketing of lubes and specialties.

Cosan is one of the largest sugar and largest ethanol producers around. Its U.S.-implied market cap is $2.6 billion and it seems on most days to trade under 500,000 shares or over 1,000,000 shares

Banking experts said the chaotic scenes risked touching off runs on other banks unless federal regulators quickly cashed out insured accounts and gave depositors accurate information about their funds ... "
