I have a home office where I’m connected to the company network using a router that tunnels through my cable modem. My intel phones ring in my office and at home. No one can tell whether I’m home or in my office. There’s no SUN equipment involved in all of this that I know of. Servers are a commodity. The trend for the last few years has been server consolidation.

This is particularly true when the main driver is reducing maintenance costs, ie. maintence contracts.

$5/gal gasoline screams telecommuting, videoconferencing, etc. to me -- all potential server uses.

Gas has been above $5 per gallon for decades in Europe, it didn't drive any special server growth or new server applications or telecommuting growth.
