Don't you have heating oil available to you???



You seem to miss my requirements - I want to cook over gas be it NG or propane, since I already have to pipe it in I might as well install a "backup" heat source - not switch from clean cheap electric that includes AC within the heat pump system.

Going to oil is extra piping and probably removal of my perfectly good system.

Heating oil is not that common. I first heard about it a few years ago when heating oil shot up in New England [and the world was going to hell in a handbasket]. Then again, when I moved to the PNW.........to my knowledge they didn't have it in MN, or CA or upstate NY.
