Geoff, I started working construction when I was 13. I worked in a steel mill and I've started my own business. I put myself through college without a DIME from my Family.Also, tell me how many weeks in your life that you had to worry about how you were going to buy enough food. Ever live off of potatoes for a week cause you were too poor to buy anything else? I have. If you think your the only one to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps then you're deluding yourself. Why didn't I apply for welfare, I could have easily. I didn't because even then I could see that welfare was a dependency trap...... Instead, I applied for every crappy job that no one else wanted, while collecting bottles to buy my spuds. By doing that I earned enough to extricate myself from that situation and move to another area where jobs were more plentiful. I've also worked construction and in corrugated paper factory. Through all this I too never got a dime from my family either. Here's a hot flash for you too, there's plenty of people that post on conservative threads that have started with less and obtained greater success than I have. The liberals somehow have painted this picture of conservatives as people born with a silver spoon in their mouths, well I'm here to tell you that's bull shit. As a matter of fact if you look at the backgrounds of liberals and conservatives there's a much greater chance that the liberal had the nice cushy life. So don't try to pull that working class hero crap with me.
