They tried that in Tampa and all the bikes disappeared within a month.

I like the idea of making enough money on these services (rent with a cc for example) to maintain the bikes in good condition and make it worth someone's while to be in this business.

It would be nice to have more bike-only roads as the bike versus 3000 pound car thing never seems like a fair fight. If we really do get to the $200/bbl and $7/gallon place by 2010, we might have such tiny cars driving around that it will not matter.
