MegaWest looks interesting. They're working at a small scale, but seem to get these small, cheaper projects on line very quickly. Been thinking about getting into Pearl which has a similar focus on heavy oil in North America. But Pearl works at a Canadian oil sands type pace. First you spend three years doing a non-commercial pilot. Then you take another 3 years and $300 - $500 million to build your commercial project. Can't really understand why all these time-killing pilot projects are required. Are CSS, SAGD, etc. such black arts that it's impossible to predict whether they are going to work at a new location?
