Just a couple of ideas which will show there are strategies.

In a flat market I only trade exploration stocks as the market is usually flat and the good stocks stick out and will be the only ones moving.

In 06 when base and precious metals were screaming I used wts on major companies. The reason is that major mining stocks, whether base or precious, will move with the metal.

When the metals stop moving, so will the majors, so we usually sell and move down to juniors with deposits and exploration potential.

The last few months I have moved to energy and potash, especialy the Sask coal and potash, but have retained some gold and silver wts.

Potash: KCL, FOS, RAY, WPX

Coal: WGF, SMI, BTT -all exploration in sask.

gold stocks: I think, NGD (expire 2017) FNV wts (expire 2013) are good safe plays. there is one more, but I am going to buy on Monday and will mention it after my buy.

I am still struggling with energy stocks as they are not part of my area of knowledge, but will think about it.

You might want to start following those threads as there are many very good traders on them.

Hope this helps.

cheers
