>>Sun Tzu says: “Those skilled at making the enemy move do so by creating a situation to which he must conform.”

I would say that China has been the economic winner in the last 20 years... by following a policy of giving the US consumer, and many US businesses what they want.

And in the process acquiring most US manufacturing.

Quite a win, and all without firing a shot.

In effect, they created a situation to which the US had to conform.

After all, Chinese production held down US inflation, and created a better standard of living in the US (for those who still had jobs).

Who could be politically against that? Almost no one. Yes there was some bitching, but nothing seriously impeding policy.

So what was done was a win and politically astute... and as easy as complying with gravity for US importers, retailers, wholesalers, and consumers.

It seems to me to be right out of your quote.

Now, it seems to me, with 1.3 billion people in China, that there are some few who know Sun Tzu, especially as he is nationally known historical figure and historical military strategist. My experience is that Chinese these days are proud of their country and proud of their history... and I would expect that an additional some few in the hierarchy of the what (4+ ?) million man Peoples Army would have read his works.

So my guess would be that some few of 1.3 billion and some few of 4 million is a great deal more than those say in the US (or where ever you are from) who have a desire to become and are familiar with his works.

Just a guess.
