Pelosi & Reid stated ad nauseum that alQaeda would inevitably win in Iraq, US troops would lose. That was their daily chant to the media until a few mos ago. Which goes to show that Democrats are almost always incontrovertibly WRONG.

....."There never was a chance that al Qaeda would win in Iraq.".....

Sure they could have won if pelosi and her band of merry nutters had their way.... good thing there was a strong president in power who believes in principals and what is right instead of pandering to voters as your gang does without any shame.

Democrat with military background assails McCain's credentials
By Brian Knowlton Published: June 29, 2008 IHT

WASHINGTON: With Senator Barack Obama planning to visit the Middle East and Europe in an apparent effort to burnish his foreign policy credentials, the credentials of his likely presidential rival, Senator John McCain, came under sharp attack Sunday from a man considered a possible Democratic vice presidential candidate.

The retired general Wesley Clark said McCain had not "held executive responsibility" and had not commanded troops in wartime.

McCain's experience in Vietnam, where he was a prisoner of war for five years, has seemed at times almost to grant him invulnerability to criticism of his security background. But on Sunday he was assailed by a fellow military man, a highly decorated one who was once the NATO supreme commander.

McCain frequently points out that he led "the largest squadron in the U.S. Navy," but Clark said on CBS television that that was not enough to support a claim to the presidency.

"He hasn't been there and ordered the bombs to fall" as a wartime commander, the general said on CBS. Clark is mentioned as a possible Obama running mate, although he originally supported Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"why isnt the mccain campaign releasing all the pages of his military record? is it because we are going to find that he is not a hero but a navy brat? if you have nothing to hide then release those missing pages (about 600 of them). you cant run as a military hero and withhold information from the public. that is at the very least downright disingenuous."

"First, Clark is right. Being a POW is no qualification for president. There are many veterans and former POW's that no one would consider making president. McCain has no executive military experience, and has shown poor judgement on issues like Iraq. Second, it's interesting that the same Republicans that swift boated Kerry in 2004 are all of a sudden so outraged when a military general actually makes a substantive and true observation about McCain."

"McCain is the one who demeans his own military service by having a horrible record of supporting the troops and veterans. Many veterans groups give McCain very low marks for his poor support. McCain just gives lip service to veterans: he praises them with words but won't support them with proper health care, education, etc. Instead, McCain wants to keep sending our brave troops to endless rotations in Iraq with no end in sight. "
