Nor do many people I have talked to. They said I was overreacting. But my God, if that isn't racism, then I don't know what racism is. How could so many people be so desensitized? I am not sure its an issue of desensitization. For many whites, an educated black person can only talk white; for them, an educated, black person is an oxymoron. Its the same when you try to explain the concept of white privilege. It goes right over their heads. Speaking of educated blacks, have you seen the Great Debaters? Its on DVD now. Great story....true story....stars Denzel Washington. I highly recommend it. There is one debate in the film that I plan to use in my classes when I teach civil rights. Its awesome!
