I'm not so sure about that. For example, my house is worth about twice what I paid for it in (in 1992), maybe more. For somebody who bought in 2005, at the peak of the bubble, that won't be the case.

But there's more to the economy than houses. And the bursting of a bubble in one sector does not mean deflation.

Compared to 1992 (or a couple of months ago)

Food's up a lot.

Energy's up a lot.

Steel's up a lot.

Etc. etc.

Wages and bonuses income (once you average in megabuck CEO types) are up.

The general level of wages and prices is - up.
