$3000 for a new engine was a SWAG based on my looking at both crate engines and re-manufactured engines last year.

I see the good re-manufactured V6 vanilla engines around $2800, and the new engines about $3600, so I am out of date.

If someone is running a 4 cylinder, there gas mileage should be good enough already. If they have a giant V-8 in their SUV, their best move may be to park it.

So I expect the market will concentrate on small to medium V8 and V6s.
