Westly clark (whom I love and think would make a great president) made a huge politcal mistake attacking McCain's imprisonment. Obama has been avoiding that. tejek, please understand the right wing keeps winning by pushing dems into positions people just cannot deal with and scaring them. Obama had to do what he did just as he had to dis the supremem court decision on hand guns. Obama knows that was a BS decision! Many people think Kerry lost the last election in Ohio because Kerry refused to bash the gays. Lost the election! The right wing always does this. it is part of the neo cons and karl roves play book. Gay bashing is a tool they love to use. Carville told kerry you have to denounce gay marriage to win Ohio and Kerry refused to do it. He not only probably lost the election by doing that, but if you think about it, he endangered the world by letting bush in for another four years. The Republicans keep beating the dems because they have no ethics, or hesitancy to use gutter politics. In fact that is their playbook! To explain clearly what I am trying to get at take religion. The vast majority of people cannot stand any discusion questioning their religion. Most are very emotional about this subject. It is a topic I almost never bring up because I know how people think about religion. And no one can win the presidency in this country if they are not a "pronounced" Christian. And I am positive all of the major dems are in favor of gay marriage. But let us say obama was an athiest or even an agnostic. Do you want him to tell the truth about that? He will lose if he does! If Obama were to say I am an athiest McCain would win hands down. In fact if Obama were to say he were for gay marriage he could very well lose. No intelligent person is against gay marriage. Intelligent people know gays are born that way and are normal human beings who want exactly the same thing sraight people want. Marriage to someone they love. I put the present plight of gays as exactly like segregation and as serious as racism. But the right wing takes these controversial subjects and uses them against the dems and the people always fall for it. Life is complex tejek and not always fair or honest. I have tried to live my whole life as an honest and decent man, but there have been times when I have had to spin the truth for what I considered the greater good.
