The Middle east: A conundrum wrapped inside a riddle, with 4000 or so years of fighting over land, water rights, and power. What country deserves to survive, but what person doesn't?

Weapons of war are just too horrible to use. Feudal politics meets post modern technology. What a recipe for nastiness.

OK here's a funny comment from Ecuador's Raphael Correa who refused to renew Washington's lease on the US air base in Manta. Washington kept badgering him to change his mind and finally Correa said OK you can keep your base there under one condition namely that you allow US (Ecuador) to open an air force base in Miami.
