Hey Wheel,

One of the best cars I ever owned was a 1947 Studebaker Land Cruiser 4-door sedan, bought used. It was the top of Studebaker's line. Manual transmission with the "hill-holder" feature on the tranny. On an uphill stop, you'd just press on the footbrake and it would hold and not let you roll backward.

When you released the clutch and gave it a little gas, the brake would release and you'd just start up the hill real smooth.

It was well built. I was a young'un without any money and I thought I was livin' a little piece of heaven.

My car payments to the bank were about $15/month on a 2-year contract <g>.

I only got rid of the car when we had kids and I had to buy a station wagon.
