Tarado: I cringed when I read this part of Clark's statement which is probably what forced Obama to denounce it:

I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president."

Imo, it's denigrating and beneath both Clark and any other POW and war vet..and beneath what Dem surrogates should be emphasizing on the talk shows..

There are so many other ways to demonstrate McCain's DISqualification for POTUS...

The irony of course is that it was OK for Repubs denigrate Kerry's service..Republicans are the masters of manipulation when it comes to military and patriotism and using them against the Dems..it's the reality we're dealing with, unfortunately..

Let me ask you this: Should Obama be campaigning as an African-American even though he is one?

Obama has been following the good old postulate of campaigning which is respect the intellect of the voter. They are smart enough to see through things like McCain's claim that he is up on military affairs because of his POW credentials. Do we have to say it? Are the voters stupid?

When Barack made that comment about attacking one's patriotism irrespective of his or someone else's, he was speaking from a position of strength. His subliminal message was, folks I am not going to attack someone else but if I am attacked I will not wimp out. No "wanted dead or alive" type of a situation that we heard W say after 9/11 and then come up with nothing to show after almost 6 years of war against terrorism.

I know Obama is a pragmatist and sees this as the only way to win a presidential election (read: centerfield), but I think he was to quick to throw General Clark under the bus. I see nothing in Clark's statements in respect to McCain that it is disrespectful. Clark's statements were his opinions only, and they are considerable given his military background.

I just read somewhere that Obama may not feel much loyalty to Clark because he [Clark] supported Clinton before supporting him.

So Obama gets personally attacked by McCain and his surrogates and we barely hear anything from MSM. Obama's surrogates opines to matters he personally knows about and he gets throw to the wolves.

Is this fair play?

Not at all. In fact, its silly.
